We’ve participated in The Great Chefs Event to benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand since the early years when it was hosted at Osteria. It has since turned into an amazing event at the URBN headquarters in the Navy Yard. This year 1200 people attended and raised over 1 million dollars for Alex’s. Every year we’ve participated, the event, for me, has been mostly about trying amazing food and meeting talented chefs from across the country. But this year, Liz Scott’s speech really hit home. She said that kids with cancer are just kids….kids like any kid in your life…
It’s no surprise that I went home that night and thanked my lucky stars for the good health of my children. No parent ever knows the fate of their child, but that night all I wanted to do was give a little extra love.
