Cool Beach Photographs

A friend of mine introduced me to Gray Malin’s aerial shots of famous beaches.  How cool are these?! I love how the top two photographs look like sprinkled confetti.  They’ be amazing in a beach house.

I’m more of a lake gal than a beach gal.   So I appreciate how these feel more quiet in comparison.  I’d like to sit on these beaches.

All photographs by Gray Malin and are for sale here.

Online Art

Have you ever bought art online?  I’ve always been skeptical–since it’s hard to tell from a small thumbnail image how something can look in a room.  Recently Minted (where I got my birth announcements) launched an art collection.  Our Flour Pot booth at the National Stationery Show was (lucky for me) next to their booth, so I got to see the art first hand–and it was beautiful.

Here, Minted shows how their prints can look at home–it’s such a helpful tool for us visual people!  Perhaps a large piece like this would look great in our playroom!

Board Books

Are you familiar with Sara Gillingham’s board books?  I recently picked up this one for the kids (I thought it was appropriate because our nickname for Sadie is Sadie Bug….like ladybug).

I’ve found that so many children’s books just don’t make sense.  I’m not expecting great plots, but a simple storyline would be nice!  Which is why I love this book.  It has such a sweet little message.  And the soft 3-D ladybug is fun for the kids to touch.

There are a bunch of these books in the series. Maybe we’ll get this one next.

PS-My favorite book from when I was a child.

A Fun (And Unexpected) Gift For New Parents

Tuesday, June 19th, 2012   ·   posted by Abbey

Jake jokes that I turn into The Hulk if he doesn’t have coffee waiting for me after my early morning circus routine.  But all kidding aside, these days I take my coffee very seriously.  Not just because I’m usually up three times a night with the babies.   On our recent trip we brought our own coffee maker and La Colombe coffee beans.  I kid not.  I’ve turned into a coffee snob.

So when Margie and I were here, I was so excited to try the new line of bottled coffee from La Colombe (they are, after all, a Philly company).  Poured over ice, this stuff is good.

We have plans to meet our friend’s newborn baby.  We’ve already sent the gift from the registry.  Wouldn’t this be a fun little gift to take to the new parents?  I love how it looks like beer but it’s coffee.  A great way to say cheers to their new life!

For Dad

This Father’s Day card made me chuckle.  Why are the go-to gifts for dad so predictable and boring?!

With infant twins we rarely get a good chunk of time to do whatever it is we feel like doing, let alone a full day (like in our pre-baby days).  So for Jake’s first Father’s Day we’re going to have Dad’s Day Jake’s Way.  Whatever Jake wants to do on Father’s Day (play golf, visit friends, etc…) he can do.  No questions asked.  We did this for my first Mother’s Day.  It was amazing.

This is cute for dad too.
